Just a little honour to Mr. Saxon who died on June 25. You find his most important work and biography around the web and on other blogs. Here's only another footnote. This mini LP was released in 1984 on the english Psycho label (Psycho 29), six years after the "Lovers Cosmic Voyage" album. The first two songs were already released on an e.p. on the Expression label in 1977. "Drums, Stars & Guitars" made its first appearance here but thought to be recorded around the same time. According to the Lama Workshop "24 Hour Rocker" is believed to be a leftover from the Orpheum Theatre shows in 1977. So what about the music? "Starry Ride" is an excellent slab of stoner-garage-punk-rock. "I'm In Love With Life" is great biker-rock while "Drums, Stars & Guitars" is in the typical Seeds style. The only downer is "24 Hour Rocker", at least it only lasts nine minutes. Some of the accompanying musicians are well-known: Elliot Ingber from Fraternity Of Man, Ron Bushy from Iron Butterfly and Mars Bonfire of Steppenwolf fame.Tracklist:
- Starry Ride
- I'm In Love With Life
- Drums, Stars & Guitars
- 24 Hour Rocker
