Essentially a concept album based on the theme of nuclear destruction it relates the tale of World War 3 and life after a nuclear holocaust. The music is lightish progressive rock with the opener, Fifty Million Megaton Sunset, the highlight musically and lyrically. This cut had previously been included on Psychedelic Salvage Co. Vol. 2 (LP & CD) and both Psychedelia, Vol. 3 (LP) and Hen's Teeth, Vol. 3 (CD) include the un-abbreviated version. Side one closes with another gem, the doom-laden, gently flowing and melancholic On The Way Down. Side two opens with Visions, a pretty standard progressive rock offering, but Tomorrow May Not Come, which had previously got an airing on Psychedelic Salvage Co. Vol. 1 (LP & CD), has some good extended instrumental pieces and Big Red Beast featured some promising guitar and vocals, but the other real gem was Feel Your Fire, a very effective blend of vocals, catchy drumming, guitar and keyboards which previews the finale, a reprise of Fifty Million Megaton Sunset. Recommended. (taken from "Tapestry Of Delights")
I've got the tracks from a soulseek share a few years back. The music itself is not really my bag but it was requested and so I post it here. More information regarding Team Dokus from singer and founder member Roger Hope on the Tenth Planet/Wooden Hill website.

This was Bam Caruso's excursion through '80s UK-Psychedelic (Bam Caruso KIRI 065 / 1986). All the songs are pretty appealing with two standout tracks from "Sugar Battle" and "Black Atlas". The only downer is the weak cover of "Father's Name Is Dead", a good example how to ruin a great song.
Tracklist: 1. Doctor - House Of Lords 2. Sugar Battle - Colliding Minds 3. Ice Doves - (I'm Not Your) Stepping Stone 4. Glass Keys - Workshop Of My Mind 5. Black Atlas - Living Colours 6. This compilation of alternate takes and demo recordings contains also Todd Rundgren's early work with Woody's Truck Stop which is much more better than the disappointing album they did at the end of the sixties without him. This double CD was released on Air Mail Recordings in 1997.

John Bromley was a songwriter who Polydor encouraged to put his songs on vinyl. The album was a collection of 45s with extra tracks added. The Fleur de Lys were called in to provide the backing on some, including So Many Things, which can also be heard on Rubble Vol. 16: Glass Orchid Aftermath (LP) and Rubble Vol. 9 (CD). Despite this added dimension the album didn't sell well. He'd been with The Three People in 1966/67. He wrote Come On Down for Jackie De Shannon and This World's An Apple for the Ace Kefford Stand. (taken from "Tapestry Of Delights")
I've got this rip from another source and tried to erase the clicks and crackles as best as possible. Originally released on Polydor (Polydor 583048 / 1969) this one should have deserved a re-issue. John Bromley was from Manchester and his work can be best compared with Bill Fay's two early seventies albums (if that helps). Often a bit too heavily orchestrated but always charming. "If You Are There With Me" was compiled on Fading Yellow #4 and "Sugar Love" find its way on Pop-in #2.

Originally from Lafayette/California they moved to San Francisco and picked up the typical sound of the city. I must confess that I'm not really into the music that "Big Brother & The Holding Company" or "Grateful Dead" did (although I respect their "Anhtems Of The Sun" and "Aoxomoxoa" albums). And now you know what's the deal here... long jammings with endless lead guitar interpretations. I think there are a lot of you out there who appreciate this record more than I do.

These compilations were rarely seen and I believe they were rather CD-R's than official releases. I have once downloaded all volumes at soulseek. What makes this series so exciting is the fact that most of the tracks were compiled here for the first time (at the moment of their release for sure). So if Psychedelic or Freakbeat from Great Britain is your bag you should give all five volumes a listen.

Rare, original and hard to get music is the demand of that blog here. If a record is still available through mailorders I won't post it (but I make exceptions if I get the feeling the dealers force up the prices). Enjoy the music and... ...leave comments (or leave me alone).
