Yard Trauma - No Conclusions (1986)

This was Lee Joseph's band, founder of Dionysus Records. Yard Trauma came out of Tucson/Arizona and their first album "Must've Been Something I Took Last Night" was re-released a year later by Lolita Records (Lolita 5084 / 1986) in France retitled as "No Conclusions". Although the tracks were from various sessions this is a pretty coherent record and will please garage and psychedelic heads as well.

Don Thompson - Jupiter (1976)

Delicate emphatic dark folk, sweet high trembling Marcus/Trimblesque vocal, orchestral backing. Sparse sound with spacey mellotron in the background. Flowing "seer with answers" damage. When he sings he's "going to the edge of the world" you gotta believe it's not the first time. Excellent LP. George Faber (Finchley Boys) helps out. Supposedly only 100 copies were pressed of the first version, but the substantial number of copies traded in recent years makes this seem dubious. Some copies of the first press came with promo material and a bonus 7".

Haigs - Never Die (1966-68)

This collection of all the 45's from this The Hague/Netherlands band was released on a 10-inch (Op-Art OAMLP 005 / 2002). Finders Keepers - Stained Glass Sun (1968)

Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue - applies to this record by the Finders Keepers, except that the "something blue" are mostly new compositions by various members of the group. Vocal is by John Allison, who comes from England, and we are wondering whether we detect something of Tommy Steele's influence in some of the numbers? Chris Anderson sings "Man of the Sea" and "Orient Green". The Finders Keepers perform in the Northern Suburbs of Johannesburg and are tremendously popular wherever they appear. We are confident that something of this record will appeal to you. Remember, there are no fewer than seven new numbers of which any one can become tomorrow's hit tune. Add this record to your collection now and prevent later disappointment when stocks run low.
(sleeve notes)

This is the CD-reissue (Phantom CD 26 / 2004) of the south-african psych/garage band from Johannesburg. The original album was released on "Bonus 134". The great garage mayhem "Man Of The Sea", the nice pop number "Your Loving" and the psychedelic "Reflections" are the best tracks to my ears. This one's by request.

Tracklist:
- Stained Glass Sun

Electras - The Best Of The Electras (1965-67)

If I would make a list of my favourite garage band you would find the Electras in the top ten. They were produced by Warren Kendrick (also the producer of the well-known Litter) who wrote nearly all the songs for them. Every of the eight tracks of this Minneapolis/Minnesota band you find on the a-side of this record (Get Hip Archive Series GHAS-5066 / 1993) are first grade (ok, maybe except the useless instrumental "Pregnant Pig"). It is said, that THEY were the first who recorded "Action Woman". Their version is earthier and a bit faster than The Litter's. They never had the chance to make an album and I believe if they had the possibility it would be the best garage LP ever. On the b-side you find The Scotsmen and The Victors which were pre-Litter bands and also produced by Warren Kendrick.

Tracklist:
1. Electras - Dirty Old Man
2. Electras - (Just A Little) Soul-Searchin'
