Would the Pebbles compilations (and others) have ever seen the light of day without the BOMP magazine? I doubt it. BOMP editor Greg Shaw (R.I.P.) and his writers were always the number one prayers of Garage-Punk. Based on an article written by Greg Shaw about Acid-Punk the Pebbles makers released the legendary third volume: The Acid Gallery (BFD-5020 / 1979).
"Obviously, psychedelic drugs affected different people in different ways. Tim Leary and his intellectual friends were wafted into oriental mysticism, but imagine the effects on the kids in punk bands whose mental worlds up to then had to revolved around cars, girls, beaches and detention. They saw the colors, heard the voices, and what else could they do? They freaked out!" Greg Shaw
Can anyone say it better? One note: "Horror Asparagus Stories" by the Driving Stupid listed on the cover but not actually included.
